Holy Wisdom Monastery
Middleton, WI

Holy Wisdom Monastery | 1901 was chosen to be a part of the construction of the Holy Wisdom Monastery in Middleton, WI. This project earned 63 of a possible 69 points for Platinum LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. This record breaking achievement made Holy Wisdom Monastery the highest scoring LEED certified building in the United States.
The heart of the heating, cooling and ventilation system at Holy Wisdom is a new “multi-stack” heat pump and chiller. At the time of installation it was the only combination heat pump/chiller of its kind in existence. Hidden beneath the main parking lot are 39 geothermal wells which regulate the temperature of the air before it is piped underground to the main cathedral and monastery.
The main cathedral is heated and cooled by a radiant floor tube system and radiant heating is also in place below the windows and doorways. A Dry Steam humidifier provides precise humidity control to the cathedral. This maintains the comfort level for the occupants and, more importantly, is critical to keeping the large pipe organ in tune.
